Game Story

Espresso is a recipe and ingredient introduced in Level 1 when Maisie visits your cafe and orders one. This is your first introduction to the foundation of all coffee drinks. Master this essential skill to unlock success in Latte, Americano, and Mocha.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Select the appropriate drinkware to use (refer to the Recipe app). Single shots of Espresso require a small glass.

2

Drag the portafilter from the Coffee Machine to the Coffee Grinder located on the left.

3

Press and hold down the button to grind the coffee beans until they reach the arched line.

4

Drag the tamper to the grounds and hold until they are level.

5

Drag the portafilter back to the Coffee Machine on the right and press the button to start brewing.

6

Once the gauge reaches the green line, press the button again to stop the machine.

💡 Pro Tip

Green zone timing is crucial: Always stop extraction when the gauge reaches the green zone. Too early = weak coffee, too late = bitter coffee. Perfect timing ensures customer satisfaction!

Common Mistakes & Fixes

Wrong Cup Type

Using large cup instead of small glass for espresso will cause the recipe to fail. Always use the small espresso shot glass.

Incorrect Grind Amount

Not grinding to the exact arched line will affect extraction quality. Too little = weak coffee, too much = bitter coffee.

Poor Tamping

Not tamping the grounds level will cause uneven extraction and poor coffee quality. Always tamp until grounds are flat.

Wrong Extraction Timing

Stopping extraction outside the green zone causes refunds. Too early = weak, too late = bitter. Perfect timing is essential!

Equipment Maintenance

Neglecting to repair your espresso machine will cause poor extraction quality and customer complaints. Keep equipment maintained!

Wrong Order in Mixed Drinks

When making Americano or Latte, always start with perfect espresso first, then add other ingredients.
